Maya Rudolph is the latest star name headed to Apple TV+, with a new comedy series starring the Emmy award winner on the way.
Rudolph (Saturday Night Live, Forever) will take the lead role in the show, with some equally big comedy names behind the camera: it is created by Peabody and Emmy Award winner Alan Yang (Master of None) and Emmy Award winner Matt Hubbard (30 Rock, Forever).
The show follows Molly, a woman whose seemingly perfect life is upended after her husband leaves her with nothing but 87 billion dollars.
Yang and Hubbard will write and exec-produce, with Rudolph also exec-producing through her company Animal Pictures, with Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens also exec-producing. Dave Becky of 3 Arts is on board as an EP too. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, will serve as the studio.
The project marks the second collaboration between Apple TV+ and Yang following the premiere of Little America, and joins a growing line-up of original comedy at Apple TV, including Mythic Quest, Central Park and Ted Lasso.
Apple TV+ has given a straight-to-series order to the half-hour series.
