Darth Maul is heading to Disney+ for a new solo outing, Lucasfilm has announced.
Maul: Shadow Lord will be an animated series following the Sith leader, who first appears in Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace. He later returned in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where his connection to the Nightbrothers clan on the planet Dathomir was revealed – and then again in the animated series Rebels. He appeared in live-action one more time in prequel movie Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Now, he’s coming back to our screens once more, with Maul: Shadow Lord taking place after the Clone Wars. It will see Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire, he rises again to lead the underworld factions.
The series was announced during the 20th anniversary Lucasfilm Animation panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan this weekend, with Sam Witwer taking to the stage to reveal his return to the galaxy as the star of the animated project. Witwer previously voiced Maul in both The Clone Wars and Rebels.
iStar Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is currently in production and will debut on Disney+ in 2026.
