Adolescence, The Studio lead Emmys 2025 winners
VOD News | On 15, Sep 2025
Netflix’s Adolescence and Apple TV+’s The Studio dominated at this year’s Emmys, taking home the most awards at the ceremony last night.
The Netflix limited series, filmed in one shot and becoming a timely talked-out show back in March, is Netflix’s second most-watched English-language series ever (the first is Wednesday). The drama took home not only the Emmys limited series prize, but also gongs for directing, writing and acting three times over. Alongside winners and co-stars Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty, Owen Cooper became the youngest ever winner of the Emmy for supporting actor in a limited series.
The other big hit of the night was The Studio, which was the most awarded comedy series in a single year at the Emmys – and, combined with its wins at the previous week’s Creative Arts Emmys, it broke the record for the most wins of a comedy in one season: The Studio took home 13 prizes overall, including comedy series and best actor for Seth Rogen, plus best writer and director.
Hacks took home prizes for both actress and supporting actress in a comedy, and Severance – another frontrunner in the awards race, won actress in a drama for Britt Lower and supporting actor for Tramell Tillman – the first Black actor to win in the category.
With Adolescence sweeping the limited series awards, The Penguin only took home one award in the end, which was lead actress in a limited series for Cristin Miloti.
The surprise of the night, at least for UK viewers came withe success of The Pitt, HBO’s medical drama, which took home three prizes, including best drama and lead actor for Noah Wyle. The series is not yet available to watch on UK TV, with HBO potentially holding it back for the launch of HBO Max in the UK in 2026.
And it wouldn’t be right to talk about the Emmys without mentioning Stephen Colbert, who won the Emmy for talk series for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which was tragically cancelled earlier this year.
