With House of the Dragon still swooping in on Mondays, it’s a quiet July on Sky and NOW, with the main TV debut a new comedy starring Danny Dyer. Battle of the Bagpipes (Sky Arts) – 3rd July
This three-part documentary series will lift the lid on piping traditions and its star players as they compete for the ultimate prize. Viewers will uncover the fiercely competitive audition process for the Lone Piper at the Royal Military Tattoo and follow new recruits taking part in their first competition in the hope to be selected for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform for the King. Meanwhile, long-time rivals go head-to-head at the fiercest competition in the piping world: Glasgow’s World Pipe Band Championships.
Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die (Sky Comedy) – 5th July
Nikki explains why she doesn’t want kids, the harsh realities of aging, her sexual fantasies, and plans for her death – all in her hilarious, unapologetic, and brutally honest style.
Ibiza Narcos (Sky Documentaries) – 7th July
Ibiza Narcos tells the story of how a sleepy Mediterranean Island was transformed into one the world’s most vibrant party capitals, fuelled by a dangerous and lucrative drugs trade which drew as many criminals to its shores as it did party animals.
Mr Bigstuff (Sky Max) – 17th July
Carpet salesman Glen (Brassic star Ryan Sampson, his first time writing and starring in a role) and his fiancée Kirsty (Harriet Webb) share a perfect, perfectly mundane life together. Sure, he’s got crippling erectile dysfunction and she has a secret shoplifting habit, but they’re happy. That is until Glen’s alpha male brother Lee (Danny Dyer) comes crashing into their lives on the run from his past and clutching onto a biscuit tin full of their father’s ashes.
Art Matters (Sky Arts) – 24th July
A passionate manifesto for placing the arts at the centre of British life, this feature- length film will see Lord Melvyn Bragg and special guests explore the power of the arts to enrich our lives, strengthen our communities and our democracy, supercharge the economy and shape the future. Melvyn will also reflect on his own life experiences and transformative artistic encounters, and he’ll make the case for why the next generation deserve greater opportunities for self-expression and social mobility.

Anyone But You – 5th July
In the edgy comedy Anyone But You, Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold – until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.
Eileen (2023) – 6th July
Eileen (Thomasin McKenzie) is a peculiar young woman – aloof and unfazed by the gloomy nature of her job at the local youth prison. But something in her changes the day that the new counsellor, Dr Rebecca St. John (Anne Hathaway) arrives. She is captivated by Rebecca’s enigmatic presence. As the two women grow closer, Eileen is inspired to explore new facets of her own personality and desires.
Manodrome – 7th July
Ralphie (Jesse Eisenberg) is a man wrestling with outside forces and the demons within when he meets a mysterious family of men who welcome him as one of their own. As Ralphie struggles to define himself, pressure mounts and a powder keg is lit that will blow a hole in the lives of everyone he touches.
The Nun II – 12th July
1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face-to-face with Valak, the demon nun. Taissa Farmiga (The Gilded Age) returns as Sister Irene, joined by Jonas Bloquet, Storm Reid, (The Last of Us) Anna Popplewell and Bonnie Aarons.

Mean Girls – 19th July
From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic. New student Cady Heron is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George and her minions. However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels, she finds herself in her crosshairs.

A 17 year-old is forced to clamber off the fence he has actively sat on all his life to stand up for himself, his whānau (family) and his future.

Robin and The Hoods – 26th July
For the tenacious 11-year-old Robin (newcomer Darcy Ewart) and her loyal band of friends ‘The Hoods’, the patch of overgrown scrubland at the end of their cul-de-sac is a magical kingdom. The only thing limiting their colourful imagination is the prospect of losing their kingdom forever. When the slippery property developer Clipboard (Naomie Harris) turns up and dazzles the parents of the area with promises of health spas and day-care facilities, Robin and her friends take matters into their own hands to defend their kingdom.

Meg Ryan directs this romcom about a pair of ex-lovers who bump into each other again at the airport after their flight is delayed.
