Facebook Watch has bagged what is believed to be its first ever Daytime Emmy nominations.
The first comes from Red Table Talk. The series, which is hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, is one of the social network’s most successful ventures into streaming video. It has 5.6 million followers on Facebook and has already been renewed for a second season of 20 episodes, which will roll out from May 2019. Its most recent episode, featuring Jordyn Woods, was the most-watched Facebook original episode to date, with 7.5 million people reportedly watching for at least one minute in its first 24 hours. It has reportedly gone on to rack up over 31 million views, although a “view” is counted as someone who has watched just 3 seconds.
The show, produced by Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios, is up for the informative talk-show Emmy, where it will compete with NBC’s Today Show with Kathie Lee & Hoda, plus Access Live, The Dr. Oz Show, and Rachael Ray.
The second comes from Food Interrupted, which is up for Special Class – Short Format Daytime Program, where it competes with Blueprint’s Blank Wall Overhaul, Digital Network’s Momsplaining Ellen, Truth Initiative’s Treatment Box and YouTube.com’s Watchtower.
Amazon Prime Video is up for 49 total Daytime Emmys, including Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series for After Forever and The Bay: The Series. Netflix is also up for 49, including Outstanding Children’s or Family Viewing Series for The Who Was? Show. YouTube.com is up for 21 awards, while YouTube Premium has 3 nominations, including Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series for Youth & Consequences, Outstanding Educational or Informational Series for Mind Field, and F2 Finding Football for Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program.
The 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards take place on Sunday 5th May 2019. You can see the full list of 2019 nominees here.
