Trailer: Netflix’s Dirk Gently will return in January
December 2, 2017 | VOD NewsDirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency will return fo Season 2 in January, Netflix has confirmed.
The adaptation of Douglas Adams’ comic novels, which is co-produced by Netflix and BBC America, brings to life the unexpected world of the hyper, absurd, eponymous detective (played by Samuel Barnett), with Elijah Wood playing Dirk’s reluctant sidekick, Todd. Written and exec produced by Max Landis, the series first premiered at the end of last year.
“The result isn’t the Dirk Gently fans will know – far from it,” we wrote in our review of the opening episodes. “But as the programme repeatedly throws ideas at the screen, from energy vampires to lost pets, that non-stop energy slowly begins to form a whole from its uneven fragments that, while all over the place, not as funny as you might like and barely logical, is strangely entertaining. Maybe it is a bit like Douglas Adams after all.”
Netflix announced this weekend that Dirk Gently Season 2 will be released on 5th January – not a surprise, given the streaming giant’s stuffed December schedule, including Dark, Black Mirror Season 4, The Crown Season 2 and Bright.
Here’s the trailer unveiling the release date and giving us a glimpse of the show’s sophomore run:
