Trailer: Netflix’s A Cop Movie heads to London Film Festival

Netflix is bringing its latest documentary to the London Film festival this October, and a new trailer gives us a first look at A Cop Movie.
Director Alonso Ruizpalacios takes us deep into the Mexican police force in the film, which tells the story of Teresa and Montoya, together known as “the love patrol”. Following family tradition, Teresa and Montoya join the police force, only to find their convictions and hopes crushed. Their emotional bond becomes a refuge for the hostility they are exposed to.
Ruizpalacios plays with the boundaries of non-fiction, blending experimental narrative and documentary storytelling to immerse the audience into the human experience of police work within a dysfunctional system, and giving voice to one of Mexico and the world’s most controversial institutions.
The film will premiere at London’s BFI Southbank on 8th October and will also be available to watch online from 9th until 10th October, as part of the London Film Festival’s hybrid line-up. It joins a number of other streamer-produced titles at the festival, including Netflix’s The Power of the Dog and The Harder They Fall, Amazon’s Encounter and Apple TV+’s The Tragedy of Macbeth.
A Cop Movie will then go on to stream worldwide on Netflix on 5th November. For more on the festival, click here – or read on below for the trailer.
