“There is something happening to you. And it’s only going to get worse.” Those are the ominous words that mark the beginning of the end for The Umbrella Academy – and a new trailer gives us a proper glimpse of what’s in store this August.
Based on the comic book series created and written by Gerard Way, illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics, Netflix’s series follows the seven children who were adopted by the billionaire Reginald Hargreeves, who created The Umbrella Academy and prepared them to save the world.
Season 4 picks up with the Hargreeves siblings scattered after the climactic showdown at the Hotel Oblivion led to a complete reset of their timeline. Stripped of their powers, each is left to fend for themselves and find a new normal — with wildly varying degrees of success. Yet the trappings of their uncanny new world prove too hard to ignore for very long. A mysterious association known as The Keepers holds clandestine meetings believing the reality they’re living in is a lie and a great reckoning is coming. Can they finally set things right?
Find out on 8th August, when the series premieres on Netflix. Here’s the video:

The Umbrella Academy renewed for fourth and final season
27th August 2022
The Umbrella will officially return to Netflix for a fourth season – and that season will also be its last.
Season 1 saw the six surviving members reunite upon the news of their father’s passing and work together to save their world. Season 2 scattered the siblings across the 1960s – only for them to discover, when they returned to the present day, that another Reginald academy from another timeline had appeared: The Sparrow Academy.
Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H Min, Ritu Arya, Adam Godley, and Colm Feore all reprised their roles for Season 3, alongside Sparrow Academy members Justin Cornwell (Jingle Jangle) as #1, Marcus, Britney Oldford (The Path, Hunters) as #3, Fei, Jake Epstein (Designated Survivor, Suits) as #4, Alphonso, Genesis Rodriguez (The Fugitive, Big Hero 6) as #5, Sloane, and Justin H Min as #2, Ben.
“The family chaos reaches new heights in The Umbrella Academy’s playful, moving and thrilling third season,” we wrote in our review.
Page, Hopper, Castañeda, Raver-Lampman, Sheehan, Gallagher, Min, Arya and Feore will all definitely be back for Season 4, which will conclude the saga of the dysfunctional super-family once and for all. Creator Steve Blackman will also be back as showrunner.
Blackman spoke to Netflix about what’s in store for Season 4, teasing details about what the finale of Season 3 means. (Warning: spoilers follow.)
“This new timeline has been dictated by Hargreeves, who reprogrammed the Universe,” he commented. “But because of Allison’s actions, he didn’t get to finish what he started before Allison pressed the reset button. So, the siblings losing their powers isn’t going to be the only oddity in this timeline. There are new enemies who want to see them wiped out of existence, but how do they manage without their powers? Is there even a way to get them back? The stakes have never been greater.”
As for the Ben who’s there at the end of Season 3, Blackman confirmed that it is Sparrow Ben.
“The question you should really be asking yourself is what the fuck is he doing on a Korean subway train reading a book about pottery?” he said. “Odd, right? Of course, it is! This is the Umbrella Academy. As every good Umbrella fan knows, no moment in the show exists in isolation. Everything we see has meaning. And this moment is no exception. Ben has a reason to be there… but you’ll have to wait until Season 4 to understand why.”
