Netflix has renewed Bridgerton for Season 5 and 6, while also unveiling a clip for Season 4.
Created by longtime Shonda Rhimes collaborator Chris Van Dusen (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice), the Shondaland series is based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels and set in the sexy, lavish and competitive world of Regency London high society. At the heart of the show is the powerful Bridgerton family. Comprised of eight close-knit siblings, they navigate the upper ten thousand’s marriage mart in search of romance, adventure, and love.
Since Bridgerton’s debut in 2020, each of the three existing seasons has ranked among Netflix’s Most Popular, with Seasons 1 and 3 currently ranking as #5 and #7, respectively. The fan-beloved prequel, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, dominated the Global Top 10. Lady Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) has seen daughters Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and sons Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Colin (Luke Newton) retire from the marriage mart.
Now, Netflix has ordered a fifth and sixth season. The news comes ahead of Season 4, which arrives in 2026. Jess Brownell is showrunner for Bridgerton Season 4, with Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen as executive producers.
Season 4 turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down. That is, until an enthralling woman captures Benedict’s attention at Violet Bridgerton’s (Ruth Gemmell) masquerade ball. While Benedict knows his love interest as only the Lady in Silver, she’s actually Sophie (Yerin Ha), a resourceful maid with her own secrets and dreams.
New characters spinning around the Bridgerton ballroom in Season 4 will include Lady Araminta Gun, played by Katie Leung. Twice-married and twice-widowed, Araminta has two daughters debuting on the marriage mart this season and she’s feeling the pressure to get at least one of her girls married off. Fabulous, discerning, and blunt, Araminta does not respond well when anything — or anyone — threatens her standing in society. Also being introducing is Rosamund Li, played by Michelle Mao. Beautiful, vain, and eager to please her mother, Rosamund is Araminta’s eldest daughter and most prized possession. Rosamund sets her sights on Benedict this social season. And, just like her mother, Rosamund is determined to get what she wants. And making her debut too will be Posy Li, played by Isabella Wei. Rosamund’s younger, kinder sister is also debuting this year. But Araminta rarely puts the spotlight on her second child. Posy’s chatty, overly friendly demeanor often has her putting her foot in her mouth.
Emma Naomi (Alice Mondrich) and Hugh Sachs (Brimsley) will also return as part of Season 4’s main cast, with other returning cast members naturally including Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Eloise (Claudia Jessie).
Here’s a clip of Season 4, which sees Benedict first spotting the mysterious Lady in Silver.
