Vince Gilligan and Rhea Seehorn are heading to Apple TV+ this November, and new trailers and images give us an intriguing tease of what to expect from Pluribus.
Gilligan, who is best known for creating Breaking Bad, is reuniting with Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn – who earned two Emmy nominations for her role in the Breaking Bad prequel – for this new drama. While plot details were kept firmly under wraps in 2022, when the project was first announced, Apple is now starting to unveil information about what to expect.
The nine-part series promises to be “a genre-bending original” in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness. In addition to Seehorn, the series stars Karolina Wydra (Sneaky Pete) and Carlos Manuel Vesga (The Hijacking of Flight 601), and guest stars Miriam Shor (American Fiction) and Samba Schutte (Our Flag Means Death).
Pluribus is produced by Sony Pictures Television and executive produced by Gilligan alongside Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Diane Mercer, Allyce Ozarski and Jeff Frost. Jenn Carroll and Trina Siopy serve as co-executive producers.
The series will premiere on Friday 7th November, with the first two episodes arriving together, followed by weekly episodes until the final on 26th December. And, if you wanted a reason to put it on your watchlist, Apple has already picked it up for a second season.
Here’s the new teaser, followed by another teaser below it – both of them equally cryptic and intriguing…
Vince Gilligan reteams with Rhea Seehorn for Apple TV+ series
23rd September 2022
Vince Gilligan is reuniting with Rhea Seehorn for a new Apple TV+ series.
Gilligan, who is best known for creating Breaking Bad, has just finished airing the prequel Better Call Saul, which co-starred Rhea Seehorn as lawyer Kim Wexler. Now, hot on the heels of earning an Emmy nomination, Seehorn is attached to star in Gilligan’s next series, which has already been given a straight-to-series order by Apple for two seasons.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Gilligan will be showrunner on the programme, and will exec-produce alongside Jeff Frost and Diane Mercer. The series hails from Sony Pictures Television, which produced both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul and has an overall deal with Gilligan in place.
The project also marks a reunion between Gilligan and Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, the heads of worldwide video at Apple who were previously co-presidents of Sony TV, plus Chris Parnell, a former co-president at Sony TV who now has a senior programming role at Apple.
“After 15 years, I figured it was time to take a break from writing antiheroes.. and who’s more heroic than the brilliant Rhea Seehorn?” Gilligan said in a statement. “It’s long past time she had her own show, and I feel lucky to get to work on it with her. And what nice symmetry to be reunited with Zack Van Amburg, Jamie Erlicht and Chris Parnell! Jamie and Zack were the first two people to say yes to ‘Breaking Bad’ all those years ago. They’ve built a great team at Apple, and my wonderful, long-time partners at Sony Pictures Television and I are excited to be in business with them.”
