Netflix has updated its app for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The app, released yesterday, will upgrades the streaming service’s video to 1080p resolution for the new iOS devices – good news for those who bought the new phone to get as big a mobile screen as possible.
“When Apple announced the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September, we were excited about the opportunity to extend the Netflix application to different screen sizes. We immediately began work on optimizing our user interface for the larger and higher resolution screens, and we’re happy to announce these changes are included in today’s update to our app,” says Netflix’s iOS Platform manager Chris Fry and UI Engineering manager Tom Richards.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users will see more titles on screen to choose from, bigger imagery and improved performance throughout. While those with longer phones will benefit the most from the improved picture quality, though, iOS 8 devices will also get better Chromecast compatibility – a sign that Google’s streaming stick has become as much a part of the streaming consumer landscape as the ubiquitous iPhone.
