Last One Laughing UK: Amazon unveils Season 2 cast

David Mitchell, Diane Morgan and Romesh Ranganathan are among the names set to take on the Last One Laughing challenge, with Amazon Prime Video announcing the line-up for Season 2.
The international format has been a hit worldwide for Amazon, starting with the successful Amazon Original series from Japan entitled Documental, created by and starring Hitoshi Matsumoto and owned by Yoshimoto Kogyo. That saw Matsumoto lead 10 comedians bet their own money in an anything-goes “battle of laughter behind closed doors”.
Since then, it has spawned a number of international versions, hosted by a range of local hosts, including Graham Norton (Ireland), Jay Baruchel (Canada), Eugenio Derbez (Mexico), Fedez (Italy), Michael “Bully” Herbig (Germany), Rebel Wilson (Australia) and Trevor Noah (South Africa). The rules are simple: laugh and you’re out. The last one to laugh is the winner.
Jimmy Carr hosted the UK incarnation, alongside Roisin Conaty, with Bob Mortimer, Daisy May Cooper, Joe Lycett, Judi Love, Rob Beckett, Sara Pascoe, Lou Sanders, Joe Wilkinson, Harriet Kemsley and Richard Ayoade competing to laugh the least.
“The best new comedy format since Taskmaster, this ruthless, star-studded comedy contest is relentlessly funny, laugh-out-loud TV,” we wrote in our review of Season 1.
Competing in Season 2 will be an equally star-studded line-up, including David Mitchell, Diane Morgan, Romesh Ranganathan, Amy Gledhill, Maisie Adam, Mel Giedroyc, Alan Carr, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Sam Campbell and – returning from the first season as a special guest – Bob Mortimer.
Season 2 will again be hosted by Carr and Conaty and will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2026.
Jimmy Carr to host Amazon’s Last One Laughing UK
31st August 2024
Jimmy Carr is heading to Amazon Prime Video to host Last One Laughing UK.
In Last One Laughing UK, Jimmy Carr will challenge 10 of the UK’s top comedians to make each other laugh, as they attempt to spend the day together without so much as cracking a smile. Over the course of the series, they will use every ounce of their comedic talents to try and break their opponents without cracking up themselves. And it’s not just their rivals they need to watch out for, with cameos, twists and surprises on the cards.
Carr is no stranger to streaming, having hosted The Fix for Netflix and released multiple stand-up specials on Netflix.
He comments: “I’m thrilled to be making Last One Laughing UK with Prime Video. It’s sure to deliver and if it doesn’t, it will leave the fun with your neighbours. Usually when I make a TV show with 10 brilliant comics, I’m expecting everyone to have a bloody good laugh – but not in this series. The last one laughing wins. It’s a great format and it’s been a huge hit around the world. I can’t wait to see who cracks up first.”
Last One Laughing UK is produced by Banijay UK labels Initial and Zeppotron.
The six-part series will film this autumn and will launch exclusively on Prime Video worldwide in 2025.
