Boyhood released on UK VOD in time for Christmas

Boyhood will be released on VOD in the UK in time for Christmas.
Richard Linklater’s epic of tiny proportions is astonishing feat of filmmaking, following the same group of actors for 12 years to chronicle the coming of age of Mason (Ellar Coltrane), who moves to Houston with his mum (Patricia Arquette) and sister (Lorelei Linklater), while keeping in touch with his divorced dad (Ethan Hawke).
A tale of growing up and parenthood? Sounds like a perfect Christmas flick, right? Well, the film was originally set for a UK DVD release on Monday 10th November, but it has since been pushed back to 19th January 2015. We are pleased to confirm, though, that you will be able to watch Boyhood online in the UK from Monday 22nd December, when it will be available as a digital download.
We’ll have a review for you nearer the time, but let’s just say for now that it’s unlike any other film out this year – or many other years, for that matter. It’s rightly considered to be a major contender in next year’s awards season. In fact, just this week it was named the best film Of 2014 by the New York Film Critics Circle and Sight & Sound.
The movie will be available to purchase from a range of online video retailers, before becoming available to rent on other VOD platforms next year, on the same day it hits DVD and Blu-ray. If you want to share a special film with your parents (or children over the age of 15) this festive season, we wholeheartedly recommend downloading Boyhood on 22nd December.
You can now watch Boyhood on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, blinkbox and Wuaki.tv.
