Amazon is getting into the seasonal spirit this December with a festival romantic comedy – and a New Year’s Eve-themed rom-com to boot. They’re balanced out by Season 3 of Jack Ryan, a Blumhouse horror and – yes – a Dr Seuss-themed baking competition
Here’s what’s coming soon to Amazon Prime Video UK in December 2022:
Your Christmas or Mine? – 2nd December
This festive romantic comedy follows young couple James (Asa Butterfield, Sex Education) and Hayley (Newcomer, Cora Kirk), who end up having to experience each other’s family Christmas without their partners when one big surprise sends Christmas in the wrong direction.
Something from Tiffany’s – 9th December
Produced by Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter, Something from Tiffany’s tells the story of how the lives of Rachel and Gary (Zoey Deutch, Ray Nicholson) and Ethan and Vanessa (Kendrick Smith Sampson, Shay Mitchell), change when their paths cross due to a mix-up of gifts – showing how a special box from Tiffany could change the course of a person’s life.
The Little Things – 9th December
A strong lead turn from Denzel Washington brings nuance to this conventional crime drama.
Dr Seuss Baking Challenge: Season 1 – 13th December
Dr Seuss Baking Challenge is the all-new baking competition series where nine teams of classically trained pastry chefs and self-taught cake artists will make the vibrant world of Dr. Seuss a reality. Hosted by actress, producer and Emmy award winner Tamera Mowry-Housley, with critically acclaimed pastry chef Clarice Lam and accomplished cake designer and pastry chef Joshua John Russell as judges.
About Fate – 16th December
This romantic comedy is a tale of two strangers who believe in love, but seem to never be able to find its true meaning. In a wild twist of events, fate puts each in the other’s path one stormy New Year’s Eve, and comedy and chaos ensue.
Wonder Woman 1984 – 16th December
An entertaining cast and warm message make this superhero sequel a winning, if overstuffed, second helping.
Nanny – 16th December
In this psychological horror fable of displacement, Aisha (Anna Diop), a woman who recently emigrated from Senegal, is hired to care for the daughter of an affluent couple (Michelle Monaghan and Morgan Spector) living in New York City. Haunted by the absence of the young son she left behind, Aisha hopes her new job will afford her the chance to bring him to the U.S., but becomes increasingly unsettled by the family’s volatile home life. As his arrival approaches, a violent presence begins to invade both her dreams and her reality, threatening the American dream she is painstakingly piecing together.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Season 3 – 21st December
The action thriller returns as Jack Ryan is on the run and in a race against time. Jack is wrongly implicated in a larger conspiracy and suddenly finds himself a fugitive out in the cold. Now, wanted by both the CIA and an international rogue faction that he has uncovered, Jack is forced underground, crisscrossing Europe, trying to stay alive, while preventing a massive global conflict.
Tom & Jerry: The Movie – 19th December
This live-action/animated hybrid outing relegates its iconic duo to underwhelming supporting characters.
Superintelligence – 23rd December
Carol Peters, a young unemployed woman, finds her life changed when an artificial intelligence entity chooses her as a guinea pig for an experiment that will decide the future of humanity. Directed by Ben Falcone, written by Steve Mallory and starring Melissa McCarthy.
Wildcat – 30th December
Wildcat follows the emotional and inspiring story of a young veteran on his journey into the Amazon. Once there, he meets a young woman running a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center, and his life finds new meaning as he is entrusted with the life of an orphaned baby ocelot. What was meant to be an attempt to escape from life, turns out to be an unexpected journey of love, discovery, and healing.
