Monday 12th August, bitches!
Put that date in your diaries. Why? Because that’s when Netflix UK is showing Breaking Bad – just one day after it airs in the US.
Netflix and Sony Pictures Television today announced that the final episodes of the final part of the final season of Breaking Bad will be available exclusively to Netflix subscribers in the UK and Ireland every week – a matter of hours after their American broadcast.
It’s a system that has worked well for the VOD provider with The Killing Season Three – so hopes were high that the same model would be used for AMC’s acclaimed drama, which sees school teacher Walter White team up with a former pupil to cook meth. As you do.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the highly-anticipated Final Season of Breaking Bad to Netflix members in the UK and Ireland on a first-run basis,” said Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos in an official statement. “Breaking Bad is a once in a generation calibre of show and continues to be a huge success on Netflix.”
Creator of the show Vince Gilligan added: “Netflix has been instrumental in making Breaking Bad the success that it is, particularly in the UK and Ireland, where it has built an audience and become a huge phenomenon. I am delighted that fans there will be able to enjoy the end of Breaking Bad on Netflix so soon after it airs in the US.”
Not as delighted as we are, Vince.
All the previous seasons of Breaking Bad are currently available to watch instantly on Netfllix UK – we’re looking at each one as we countdown to the Season Five Part Two. Read them here.
