What’s leaving Sky and NOW in January / February 2021?
David Farnor | On 26, Jan 2021
Sky’s growing number of original shows and ever-expanding catalogue of blockbusters is ideal for keeping your days and nights occupied, but before you break open new box sets or devour some big-hitting films, don’t miss your chance to catch some modern gems before their rights expire and they depart.
That means taking care not to miss out some of Sky’s exclusives, such as HBO’s The Vow and Watchmen. Or, if you’ve got Sky Cinema, two sci-fi classics and some of the last remaining Disney titles departing for Disney+.
This is your last chance to stream the following:
TV
The Vow: Season 1 – 1st February
Describing itself as a “multi-level marketing company”, the controversial group NXIVM claims to offer personal and professional development seminars through its “Executive Success Program”. However, the group has been dogged with claims that it is closer, in truth, to a cult with links to sexual slavery. Inspired by her own experience of attending the group’s seminars, Emmy winning director Jehane Noujaim explores the controversial “self improvement” as legal proceedings are carried out amongst its highest profile members, most notably founder Keith Raniere.
The Jinx: The Life And Deaths of Robert Durst – 8th February
HBO’s gripping documentary, exposes long-buried information discovered during a seven-year investigation of a series of unsolved crimes, and the man at their centre: Robert Durst, scion of New York’s billionaire Durst family.
Sharp Objects: Season 1 – 12th February
Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson are exceptional in this intriguing, dark psychological thriller about surface appearances and hidden truths, based on Gillian Flynn’s novel.
Silicon Valley: Season 1 to 6 – 13th February
Mike Judge’s Emmy-winning comedy charts the (mostly) rising fortunes of a socially awkward computer programmer.
Billions: Season 2 – 18th February
Giamatti and Lewis at the top of their game make Billions an investment worth making.
Watchmen: Season 1 – 20th February
Damon Lindelof’s remix of Watchmen is compulsively unusual, excitingly ambitious and challengingly pertinent television.
Euphoria – 24th February
Following a group of high school students as they navigate love and friendships in a world of drugs, sex, trauma and social media, the series is executive produced by Drake, along with manager Future the Prince. The ensemble cast includes actor and singer Zendaya, Maude Apatow (Girls), Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith and Sydney Sweeney (Sharp Objects).
True Detective: Season 3 – 24th February
Mahershala Ali brings fresh focus and tension to True Detective’s rejuvenated third season.
