Walter Presents is heading to South America for the summer, with two new crime dramas from the continent dropping this July.
The scorching Latino thrillers will see Argentina and Brazil keep even non-World Cup fans hooked to the screens over the coming weeks, with All 4’s foreign-language streaming channel debuting a double-bill of box sets.
The Cleaning Lady is an Argentine series with a premise like no other: when a crooked manager at the local boxing club is murdered, the club’s cleaner, Rosa, is forced at gunpoint to clean up after the mafia-related hit. Scared for her life, but handsomely paid for her part in the crime, single mother Rosa uses her immaculate cleaning skills and, with no choice in the matter, begins to act as the regular “cleaning lady” for the gang. As the clandestine clean-ups increase and as she continues to struggle to provide a normal life for her ailing son Felipe, Rosa finds herself pulled deeper and deeper into the mafia.
Investigating the murders, detectives Sandro and Gutiérrez are shocked by a series of impeccably sterile crime scenes and begin to suspect Rosa’s involvement. Seizing evidence of the special cleaning liquid she uses in her work, the detectives begin to close in on her as their primary suspect…
Joining The Cleaning Lady is Brazil’s The Raid, which whisks us away to Rio de Janeiro in 2010, when the Brazilian government launch a military-assisted siege on one of the city’s most notorious and criminally-controlled favelas. The timing couldn’t be worst for four undercover policemen operating in the slum, whose identities are accidentally leaked just the siege begins. As violence mounts, the favela’s ruthless boss, Playboy, orders his men to hunt down those who have betrayed him.
With their lives now at risk, the four undercover policemen stay low and do everything they can to stay alive. But while taking cover from the jungle of gunfire and warfare outside, they start to question if the traitor could in fact be one of them.
Both series will launch all-at-once as entire box sets on Friday 6th July.
