Apple renews Home Before Dark for Season 2
20th January 2020
Apple has already renewed Home Before Dark for a second season.
The tech giant launched its subscription streaming service Apple TV+ late last year and has wasted no time in renewing many of its original shows as it looks to build a roster of titles and stars. Some of those have been green-lit before they have even premiered, such as The Morning Show and For All Mankind.
Home Before Dark is a dramatic mystery series inspired by the reporting of young investigative journalist Hilde Lysiak, and directed and executive produced by Jon M. Chu.
It follows a young girl who moves from Brooklyn to the small lakeside town her father left behind. While there, her dogged pursuit of the truth leads her to unearth a cold case that everyone in town, including her own father, tried hard to bury.
Home Before Dark stars The Florida Project’s Brooklynn Prince alongside Jim Sturgess, Abby Miller, Kylie Rogers, Adrian Hough, Jibrail Nantambu, Deric McCabe and Joelle Carter. The series is created and executive produced by showrunners Dana Fox and Dara Resnik; written and executive produced by Russel Friend and Garrett Lerner; and executive produced by Joy Gorman Wettels, Rosemary Rodriguez and Sharlene Martin.
The series will premiere its first season on Friday 3rd April, with three episodes dropping all-at-once and new episodes then arriving weekly on Fridays.
Jim Sturgess joins Apple’s Hilde Lysiak drama
26th October 2018
Jim Sturgess has joined the cast of Apple’s Hilde Lysiak drama.
Inspired by a true story, the series follows a young girl who moves from Brooklyn to the small lakeside town where her father once lived. There, she unearths a cold case that her dad, and the whole community, tried to hide.
The real life Lysiak made headlines when she was nine years old, reporting in her own self-started newspaper the discovery of the crime in her hometown. She will be played by The Florida Project’s Brooklynn Prince. Now, Jim Sturgess has been confirmed as her co-star, playing her father. He joins the project after a co-lead role in the recent BBC drama Hard Sun.
The series is produced by Anonymous Content and Paramount Television and was created by Ben and Kate creator Dana Fox, plus Dara Resnik (Daaredevil). They executive produce the project with Joy Gorman Wettels (13 Reasons Why) and Sharlene Martin (Deadly Sins), alongside Crazy Rich Asians helmer Jon M. Chu, who will also direct.
Apple’s streaming TV service is expected to launch globally next year.
