Trailer: Netflix serves up Coffee & Kareem this April

Ed Helms and Taraji P. Henson are heading to Netflix this April for new buddy cop comedy Coffee & Kareem.
From the director of Goon, the film follows 12-year-old Kareem Manning, who hires a criminal to scare his mom’s new boyfriend — police officer James Coffee — but it backfires, forcing Coffee and Kareem to team up in order to save themselves from Detroit’s most ruthless drug kingpin. An action comedy co-starring Betty Gilpin, RonReaco Lee, Andrew Bachelor and David Alan Grier, the film premieres on 3rd April.

GLOW’s Betty Gilpin joins Netflix’s Coffee & Kareem

GLOW’s Betty Gilpin has joined the cast of Netflix’s Coffee & Kareem.
The Emmy-nominated star of the streaming giant’s wrestling comedy isn’t going far for her new project, an original film that was announced earlier this year.
Taraji P. Henson and Ed Helms star in the comedy, which is based on Shane McCarthy’s 2014 Black List script. The movie follows a Detroit cop, who reluctantly teams up with his girlfriend’s 11 year-old son to clear his name and take down the city’s most ruthless criminal.
Michael Dowse (Goon) will direct the project, with Helms and Mike Falbo producing via their Pacific Electric Pictures Co banner.
Gilpin leads a wave of new talent joining the movie, including Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor (The Babysitter, Meet The Blacks), RonReaco Lee (First Wives Club, Survivor’s Remorse), and up-and-comer Terrence Little Gardenhigh (Speechless, Just Roll With It).

Taraji P. Henson and Ed Helms will star in Netflix’s latest original film, Coffee & Kareem.
The movie follows a Detroit cop, who reluctantly teams up with his girlfriend’s 11 year-old son to clear his name and take down the city’s most ruthless criminal.
Academy Award nominee and Golden Golden winner Henson can currently be seen in What Men Want. She next stars opposite Sam Rockwell in Best Of Enemies. Helms was most recently seen in the ensemble comedy Tag opposite Jeremy Renner and Jon Hamm. Other notable credits include the Hangover trilogy and the US remake of The Office.
Michael Dowse (Goon) will direct the project, from a script by Shane McCarthy – a script that was on the 2014 Blacklist of top unproduced screenplays.
Helms and Mike Falbo are producing via their Pacific Electric Pictures Co banner. Nelson will exec-produce alongside Jordon Foss, Linden Nelson, and Don Foss.
