Robbie Amell will star in Amazon’s latest pilot, Upload.
The sci-fi comedy is a high concept series set in a future where humans can “upload” themselves into their preferred choice of afterlife.
When Nathan (Amell) meets his early death, he is greeted by the Nora in his version of heaven. As Nathan grows accustomed to life away from his loved ones, the alive Nora struggles to stay afloat working her job alongside Nathan in the afterlife.
Amell is no stranger to high-concept streaming sci-fi, after starring in Netflix original thriller ARQ. He will star alongside Andy Allo, who will play Nora, described by Deadline as a “spirited modern girl with a rebellious streak”. Allo can currently be seen in Pitch Perfect 3.
The pilot comes with an even more impressive name behind the camera: it is written and directed by Greg Daniels, creator of the US remake of The Office. It is produced by Deedle-Dee Productions, with Daniels exec-producing alongside Howard Klein.
