Trailer: F Is for Family returns for Season 4 this June
David Farnor | On 28, May 2020
F is for Family returns to Netflix this June, and a new trailer gives us our first look at Season 4.
Bill Burr’s comedy, co-created with Michael Price, is as adult as adult animation gets, taking us back to the 1970s and exposing every possible slice of political incorrectness as it can – with as much swearing as possible.
Season 4 sees the cast of Burr, Laura Dern, Justin Long and Sam Rockwell joined by Jonathan Banks as Big Bill Murphy. It follows Frank as he deals with an unwelcome visit from his estranged father, while Sue pursues New Age pregnancy support, and the Murphy kids try out new personas.
Season 4 premieres on 12th June. Here’s the trailer:
Jonathan Banks joins F Is for Family Season 4

F Is for Family is returning to Netflix for Season 4, and it’s got a new guest star: Jonathan Banks.
Banks has become a household name in recent years, after his scene-stealing turn in Breaking Bad as enforcer Mike Ehrmantraut, which he reprised as a co-lead character in the prequel spin-off series Better Call Saul. With both airing on Netflix, he’s a handy guy to have on the streaming service’s roster, and now, he’s bringing his endearing irascible tones to one of Netflix’s long-running adult shows.
Bill Burr’s comedy, co-created with Michael Price, is as adult as adult animation gets, taking us back to the 1970s and exposing every possible slice of political incorrectness as it can – with as much swearing as possible.
Featuring the voices of Burr, Laura Dern, Justin Long and Sam Rockwell, the show follows the Murphys, a dysfunctional family living (or trying to get through life) in Rhode Island.
Burr, who has a number of stand-up specials on Netflix as well, exec-produces the sitcom alongside Price, who serves as showrunner. Vince Vaughn joined the cast for Season 3 as Colonel Chet Stevenson, a neighbour to Burr’s Frank Murphy. Season 4 is sticking with that tradition of star-studded support, as a new video reveals Banks will be playing Big Bill Murphy.
Season 4 will air on Netflix later this year. Here’s the teaser of Banks in action:
Netflix renews F Is for Family for Season 4
27th January 2019
Netflix has renewed F Is for Family for a fourth season.
“Ranging from slapstick, to morally dubious, to outright sharp as a tack, the scripts are often polished and presented as both an entertaining fictional animated sitcom and a drama that’s relatable enough to be viewed as a stark bite of real life,” we wrote in our review of the show, which described it as “pleasantly enjoyable to binge through or dip into whenever you need a cynical laugh”.
Burr, who has a number of stand-up specials on Netflix as well, exec-produces the sitcom alongside Price, who serves as showrunner, Michael Lagnese and Victoria Vaughn from Wild West Television, plus Peter Billingsley and Vince Vaughn. Vince Vaughn also lent his voice to the show in its third season, playing Colonel Chet Stevenson, a neighbour to Burr’s Frank Murphy. Chet was a “man’s man”, an Air Force fighter pilot who spent years in Vietnam before transferring back to the local base where Young Frank did his National Guard service. With his new Vietnamese wife on his arm, Chet quickly became a major part of Frank’s life and a huge force in the Murphys’ cul de sac.
Now, not long after its Season 3 debut, Netflix has ordered a fourth run of 10 more episodes. With each season taking around 15 months to make, Season 4 will premiere on Netflix in 2020. The renewal makes F Is for Family the second-longest-running adult animation on Netflix, behind only BoJack Horseman (recently renewed for Season 6).
The show’s official Twitter account announced the news this week, also posting a picture of the programme’s staff, following a table read of a Season 4 script. That line-up includes Jeff Norkin, Luan Thomas, Valeri Vaughn, Joe Piarulli, Gillian Bissonnette, Jessica Williamson, Henry Gammill, Mike Price, Sam Stefanak, Joe Heslinga, David Richardson and Marc Wilmore.
F Is for Family is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
