Bloodline Season 3 trailer teases the end for the Rayburns

A new trailer has landed for Season 3 of Bloodline, and the mood is more ominous than ever, as the Rayburns prepare for the end of their tale.
Created by the team behind Damages and starring an impressive cast led by Kyle Chandler, the show’s conclusion was announced last year, coming as something of a surprise, after its writers spoke of the possibility of up to six seasons. Season 3 was also cut down from 13 episodes to 10.
“Please don’t judge us. We’re not bad people. We just did a bad thing,” says Kyle Chandler’s John Rayburn, the eldest of the Rayburn sons. That bad thing goes all the way back to Season 1 of the show, written by the creators of Damages, and as thunderstorms roll in to Florida and people face the consequences of past actions, there’s a sense that even with Bloodline ending prematurely, there’s no stopping things coming full circle.
All episodes of Season 3 land on Netflix on Friday 26th May. Here’s the new trailer:
Bloodline Season 3 to premiere on 26th May
17th April 2017
Bloodline will return for a third and final season this May, Netflix has announced.
A new video has been released by the streaming giant confirming the premiere of the drama’s return on Friday 26th May, as we go back to Florida to catch up with the Rayburn family, as all things come to a head.
Created by the team behind Damages and starring an impressive cast led by Kyle Chandler, the show’s conclusion was announced last year, coming as something of a surprise, after its writers spoke of the possibility of up to six seasons. Season 3 was also cut down from 13 episodes to 10.
Cindy Holland, Netflix vice president of original content, said in an official statement: “Bloodline season three will be the show’s final season. Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler (KZK) are thoughtful and visionary storytellers, who lead a prestigious cast, that includes Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn, who have both garnered two Emmy nominations for their roles on the series. Together, with our collaborative partners at Sony Pictures Television, they created a seductive show that Netflix viewers worldwide love and continue to discover. We are looking forward to the exciting climax KZK have in store for the series.”

Bloodline will finish with Season 3
15th September 2016
Bloodline will finish with its third season, Netflix has confirmed.
The streaming giant’s original series, from the creators of Damages and starring an impressive cast led by Kyle Chandler, premiered its second season earlier this year – and Season 3 was announced almost immediately. Now, however, Netflix has made it clear that there will not be a Season 4.
The Hollywood Reporter first broke the story, revealing that Season 3 of Sony Pictures Television’s series has also been cut down from 13 episodes to 10 episodes.
Series creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler have previously spoken of a plan for up to six seasons of the show. In an interview with THR in March 2015, they said: “We’re doing a TV series, so even in our own mind, we’re asking ourselves, ‘Does this series have seasons in it?’ When we pitched it and we thought about it, we were thinking five to six seasons down the line because we wanted to make sure it could hold that much material. So we certainly have ideas for where everything could go and hopefully where everything will go.”
Since then, the mood changed somewhat on the show, not helped by a cut in Florida’s tax incentives scheme for entertainment, which effectively made the programme more expensive to produce.
“Netflix is evaluating how it’s doing for them and it’s performing and are very hopeful that there will be a future as are we,” Todd A. Kessler told THR again in June. “We decided to set the show there and film the show there because it’s crucial to what the show is, not because of the tax incentive, but it does affect things financially for us and the show will be challenged because of that. It makes things more difficult.”
The move bucks something of a trend for the streaming service, which has previously tended to renew its original content – with the exception of Lilyhammer and Hemlock Grove, both of which made it to three seasons. It arrives as THR also speculates about a possible industry backlash against the VOD giant, as the company grows to the size where it could potentially dominate the entertainment landscape – or, at the very least, become a more established part of the system.
House of Cards producer Dana Brunetti told THR that Netflix no longer offers the artistic freedom that first won creators over to the company.
“There’s nothing special about Netflix anymore,” she said. “They had the first-mover advantage with digital streaming and giving artists more power, but now they’ve become like any traditional network or studio. And there are a lot of competitors.”
She refused to comment on the exit of House of Cards showrunner Beau Willimon from the show, who exited after the recent Season 4, despite the show’s renewal for a fifth run. (Brunetti, however, is an exec at Relativity Media, which has been in a legal dispute with Netflix recently.)
A spokesperson from Netflix told the company: “We are doing something that’s never been done before; bringing great stories to people all over the world at the same time and at unprecedented quality and scale. In doing so, we are disrupting traditional business models and creating new norms. Not everyone likes disruption, but we’ve hired executives with extensive Hollywood and international media experience who are thriving at Netflix, and we are working successfully with a wide variety of creators and studios who understand and appreciate our approach. Most importantly, consumers and viewers like what we do, and we plan to keep doing it.”
Cindy Holland, Netflix vice president of original content, also told TV Line: “Bloodline season three will be the show’s final season. We are looking forward to the exciting climax KZK have in store for the series conclusion in May 2017.”
There is no word yet on whether Sony will attempt to find another home for Bloodline in the future.
Netflix renews Bloodline for Season 3
14th July 2016
Netflix has renewed Bloodline for a third season.
The original drama, from creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler, has been one of Netflix’s most acclaimed series, earning nominations for Emmy, Golden Globe and WGA awards.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television, it follows the Rayburn family, whose secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep brother, Danny, returns home.
Paranoia and mistrust build as lies pile up in the Florida Keys, alliances are shattered, and an unthinkable crime takes place. The tight-knit family’s formerly harmonious relationship deteriorates, and good people are forced to consider doing very bad things.
The third season will span 10 more episodes, with Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, and Norbert Leo Butz all returning to reprise their roles.
“Todd, Daniel, and Glenn have created a riveting family saga featuring one of the most talented ensembles in the history of television. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds for the all-too-human Rayburns,” says Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix.
Season 3 will premiere in 2017. For more on Season 2, you can catch up with our review here.
