The series follows Hakan (Cagatay Ulusoy), a shopkeeper who becomes part of an ancient order tasked with protecting Istanbul. From the powerless to the powerful, the fantasy charts the epic journey of an ordinary man discovering his destiny. Season 2 picks up as Hakan facesg formidable odds against the resurgent Immortals. He and the Loyal Ones must forestall sinister plans to destroy the city – oh, and all of humanity.

“Hakan’s life is a little more complex than it seems…” That’s an understatement from Netflix’s new Turkish thriller, The Protector, which sees a shopkeeper become part of an ancient order tasked with protecting Istanbul.
From the powerless to the powerful, Netflix’s fantasy series charts the epic journey of an ordinary man discovering his destiny. At the story’s start, Hakan (Cagatay Ulusoy) couldn’t be further from a hero — just a typical guy in this city of 15 million, where East meets West and past meets present. He must quickly learn that his hometown is under threat from the mysterious, mystical Immortals, and it’s his job to stop them. It’s a task he’s not only unprepared for, but also resists — will he fulfil his destiny as the last protector?

Netflix is introducing us to the world of The Protector with our first look st the streaming giant’s first Turkish original series.
From the powerless to the powerful, the series charts the epic journey of an ordinary man who discovers his destiny, becoming the hero he was meant to be. Hakan is a young shopkeeper whose modern world gets turned upside down when he learns he’s connected to a secret, ancient order, tasked with protecting Istanbul. At the story’s start, Hakan couldn’t be further from a hero — just an ordinary guy in this city of 15 million, where East meets West and past meets present. He must quickly learn that his hometown is under threat from the mysterious, mystical Immortals, and it’s his job to stop them. It’s a task he’s not only unprepared for, but resists — will he fulfill his destiny as the last protector?
Starring Cagatay Ulusoy, the 10-episode fantasy also stars Ayca Aysin Turan, Hazar Erguclu, Okan Yalabik, Mehmet Kurtulus, Saygin Soysal and Burcin Terzioglu. Today, Netflix has released the first footage of the cast in action. The whole series will premiere later this year on Netflix.
