Sintonia arrives on Netflix this August and we’ve got our first look at the artwork for the new Brazilian series.
The poster pays homage to funk, the musical genre that inspires and moves the young ‘paulistanos’ living in the city: Nando (Christian Malheiros), Doni (MC Jottapê), and Rita (Bruna Mascarenhas).
Showcasing how music and friendship are essential in their lives, the original series produced by Losbragas will comprise of six 40-minute episodes. Told through three characters’ perspectives, these six chapters will explore the universe of music, crime, and religion in São Paulo’s capital. Doni, Nando, and Rita all grew up together in the same favela, where they were influenced by the draw of funk, drug trafficking, and the evangelical church. Despite them following very different paths, the three childhood friends ultimately realize that to achieve their dreams, they’ll need to rely on and support each other throughout this journey.
Sintonia was created by Kondzilla, Guilherme Quintella, and Felipe Braga, and written by Guilherme Quintella, Duda Almeida, and Thays Berbe with Pedro Furtado as the head writer. The producers are Rita Moraes, Felipe Braga, and Alice Braga. Felipe Braga also serves as the creative executive-producer. KondZilla and Johnny Araújo will direct.
Sintonia joins the slate of Netflix originals series produced in Brazil, including 3%, O Mecanismo, Samantha!, Super Drags, Coisa Mais Linda, and the upcoming The Chosen One, Invisible Cities, Nobody’s Looking, Brotherhood, Omniscient, Spectros, Futebol, Reality Z, and the recently announced Boca a Boca.
The series premieres on Netflix on Friday 9th August 2019. Here’s the poster and trailer:
Sintonia is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
