Netflix’s The After Party is kicking off this August, and a new trailer gives us a first look at the hip-hop comedy.
Written and directed by Ian Edelman (How to Make It in America), it sees two friends trying to land a record deal before they head to university and the military. All taking place during “one wild night”, the shoot will see the action unfold on location at The Meadows Music and Arts Festival at Citi Field in Queens, and at the Gramercy Theater.
Starring Kyle Harvey, Teyana Taylor, Wiz Khalifa and Blair Underwood, the film follows an aspiring rapper who goes viral for all the wrong reasons. He thinks his career is over, but when his best friend gets them into a wild NYC after party, he gets one more chance to make the impossible happen.
The cast also includes Jordan Rock, French Montana, Harrison Holzer (Sex Tape) and Teen Wolf’s Shelley Hennig, with a number of celebrity cameos also lined up.
The film premieres on Friday 24th August. Here’s the trailer:

Filming has started on Netflix’s new original film, The After Party, starring Kyle Harvey, Teyana Taylor, Wiz Khalifa and Blair Underwood.
The hip-hop comedy is written and directed by Ian Edelman (How to Make It in America) and takes place in the music industry. The film is produced by Live Nation Productions, its first scripted production, WorldStar Hip Hop and Hunting Lane Films.
