Chevy Chase, Richard Dreyfuss and Andie MacDowell to have The Last Laugh with Netflix
27th September 2017
Chevy Chase, Richard Dreyfuss and Andie MacDowell will be having The Last Laugh together with Netflix. The streaming giant has made a name for itself with its comedy output, from giving big names solo series to snapping up stand-up specials from new names behind the mic. Now, it’s going old-school, with cinema veterans Dreyfuss and Chase both on board its latest original film, reports THR
Written and directed by Greg Pritikin, The Last Laugh follows talent manager and widower Al Hart, who reunites with former client Buddy Green for the first time in several decades. Buddy, a once promising stand-up comedian, has since retired to settle down with his family, but Al convinced him to give it one last shot, with a bucket list tour of classic venues across America.
National Lampoon frontman Chase needs no introduction, while Dreyfuss has starred in such classics as Stand by Me and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Both, though, remain active on-screen, with Chase next seen in The Ogilvy Fortune and Federal Offense, and Dreyfuss appearing in Cuba Gooding Jr.’s Louisiana Caviar, and Bill Holderman’s comedy Book Club. Four Weddings legend MacDowell, meanwhile, was most recently seen in Russel Harbaugh’s Love After Love, and next appear in Joseph Kosinski’s Only the Brave.
They will be joined by Lewis Black, Kate Micucci and Chris Parnell, with Rob Paris of Paris Film, Inc. on board as producer. Production starts this week in New Orleans.
