Walter Presents is heading to Sweden for its latest box set: crime thriller Before We Die.
A show with a deep secret at its core, Before We Die follows Hanna, an uncompromising cop in the organised crime unit of the Stockholm Police, so strongly principled she’s even prepared to arrest her son for drug dealing and see him serve a two-year sentence. The series opens as he is released, and his mother’s career is very much on the wane, as she’s put on mundane financial crime cases and encouraged to retire.
But when her lover and colleague is abducted, Hanna must take over his undercover investigation. She soon realises the entire case hinges on an informer she has never met, but is in constant contact with over text via her lover’s phone. Little does she know her investigation will risk the life of the son she betrayed.
Before we Die stars Marie Richardson, who also features in Blue Eyes, and The Bridge’s Adam Pålsson. Both were nominated for Best Actress and Best Actor respectively at the prestigious Swedish Kristallen Awards, with Pålsson winning the award.
Now, following their success across Europe, the show will launch as a full box set on 16th January. The series will premiere at 11pm on Channel 4, when all 10 episodes will be simultaneously released online on Walter Presents. For the first time, though, Channel 4 will also continue to broadcast the series in full every Tuesday.
