All 4 has teamed up with Google Assistant to enable voice control for viewers.
The Channel 4 catch-up service now supports voice commands from users through Google’s smart platform, enabling viewers to play their favourite shows from their Google Home and Google Home Mini.
This is the first time a UK on-demand TV service has become integrated with Google Assistant across Google’s family of Home devices. A viewer will be able to say for example, “Ok Google, play Gogglebox on All 4”, and their TV will access the series from the All 4 app via their Chromecast.
Carl Pfeiffer, Channel 4’s Head of Distribution and Platform Partnerships, says: “We have a great track record in partnering with platforms on new innovations, so we’re really excited to be able to launch our first major voice integration with Google, enabling viewers to watch Channel 4 shows quickly on their big screens at home.”
Edward Kenney, Google Home’s Head of UK Product Partnerships, adds: “We are delighted that Channel 4 viewers in the UK will be able to easily access their favourite TV programmes using simple voice commands. One of the joys of Google Home is to assist in making life’s tasks easier, simpler and more fun for everyone.”
All 4 is one of the UK’s leading on-demand services with over 10,000 hours of entertainment, including exclusive and catch up content and over 150 box sets of iconic TV series all available for free.
All 4’s most popular shows so far this year include critically acclaimed new drama Kiri; smash hit new comedy series Derry Girls; entertainment favourites First Dates, Celebs Go Dating and Made in Chelsea; recently acquired US classic teen drama series Dawson’s Creek and award-winning drama The End of the F***ing World.
All 4 is available across over 20 platforms including mobile and tablet, games consoles, big screens and online. It is also available via third-party providers, such as Sky and Virgin Media. Viewers have been able to cast their favourite Channel 4 content directly to their TV, using a Chromecast, since 2015.
