Netflix. Amazon Prime Video. BBC iPlayer. NOW. Walter Presents. There’s so much TV to watch these days in so many places that it can be hard to keep up. Every month, we boil down what’s on the box to the essentials you need in your streaming queue.
April means one thing to TV fans all over the world: Game. Of. Thrones. With HBO’s fantasy epic arriving at its final ever episodes, most other TV programmes would hide in the shadows, waiting until the dragons have concluded their fiery business, but there are gems to be found beneath the snow for those wanting to steer clear of Westeros. Know nothing about this week’s telly highlights. Don’t be like Jon Snow. We’ve sorted through All The TV to bring you your April watchlist – what’s worth watching, why and where you can find it online in the UK:
Game of Thrones: Season 8
Fire meets ice in what promises to be the television event of the year. Simulcast at 2am, episodes are available immediately afterwards on-demand, so you can watch it with your breakfast on Monday morning – perfect for avoiding spoilers before it’s repeated at 9pm weekly.

Light As a Feather
This supernatural thriller from AwesomenessTV centres on four best friends who invite the shy new girl out on Halloween, but they soon regret their decision when she suggests they play a seemingly innocent game of ‘Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board’. The game goes awry when the five girls start dying off in the exact way that was predicted, forcing the survivors to figure out why they’ve been targeted – and whether the evil force hunting them down is one of their own.
The 10-part series stars Liana Liberato (The Best of Me, Sons of Anarchy), Haley Ramm (X-Men: The Last Stand, Red State), Ajiona Alexus (13 Reasons Why, Empire), Brianne Tju (Scream: The TV Series) and Peyton List (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Jessie) and has been nominated for four Daytime Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actress, Supporting Actress, Writing and Director.

Barry: Season 2
Bill Hader and Henry Winkler reprise their Emmy®-winning roles in HBO’s dark comedy series about a depressed war vet turned-hitman who finds passion and romance in a local acting class while on a job in LA. As Season Two opens, Barry continues his attempts to focus exclusively on the theatre and his girlfriend/classmate Sally while being unable to extricate himself from a violent criminal triangle involving the Chechen, Bolivian and Burmese underworld – not to mention some deeply suspicious LA detectives.

Bad Banks
Set in the high octane world of finance, this German thriller follows young banker Jana, who is unjustly fired from a prestigious bank in Luxembourg, only for her dream role conveniently rolls into her lap. Could it be too good to be true?
After being wrongly fired, young and ambitious Jana is quickly recruited by a top competing bank in Frankfurt, thanks to the unexpected help of Christelle Leblanc, her former boss. Leaving her family behind, she moves to Germany where her drive and ambition quickly pay off and she manages to impress her new team and most crucially her new boss, banking supremo Gabriel Fenger. Despite this upwards trajectory and swift success, she soon realises that that she’s being manipulated. Will Jana survive the merciless power play? The show was a huge hit in Germany, winning 13 awards following its release in 2018 and nominated for a further 10, including two Best Actress awards for Paula Beer (Jana Liekam) and two Best Actor awards for Barry Atsma (Gabriel Fenger). It premieres on Channel 4 at 11pm on Thursday 4th April, with the whole box set then available to stream on Walter Presents via All 4.

The Tick: Season 2
Amazon’s superhero comedy follows Arthur (Griffin Newman), an unassuming accountant with no superpowers, who becomes embroiled in the middle of the battle between good and evil – thanks to his mysterious new ally, The Tick (Peter Serafinowicz), a bizarre, blue costumed figure, who may just be a figment of Arthur’s imagination. Tick and Arthur both return for Season 2 to defend the city from new villains and old enemies. That is, if they can convince AEGIS, the government agency in charge of superhero regulation, that they deserve the job. But now that the City is ‘safe enough to protect’, Tick and Arthur begin to see they’ve got competition, and that everyone’s got a secret to hide.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Season 2
After signing her name in the Book of the Beast, Sabrina struggles to find the balance between her place in the mortal world and her new darker side – but surely, her dark side can’t be that bad… can it? New challenges await to test her, including having to choose between the familiar mortal Harvey Kinkle, and the sexy warlock Nicholas Scratch. She may have signed her name to the Dark Lord, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t willing to raise a little hell.

Cloak & Dagger: Season 2
The Marvel series, co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios, tells the story of two teenagers from very different backgrounds who find themselves burdened and awakened by their new powers. Alongside Tandy’s ability to emit light daggers is Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph – The Night Of), who has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They discover their abilities at the same time as a mysterious link to one another, and quickly learn they are better together than apart. Season 2 sees a new evil growing in New Orleans, with Tandy and Tyrone the only ones who can stop it. It premieres on Friday 5th April, with episodes arriving on Amazon Prime Video weekly, within 24 hours of its US broadcast.

Our Planet
Netflix takes on BBC One’s Blue Planet and Planet with this stunning documentary that combines footage of rarely-seen animals mix with somber truths about humanity’s impact on the planet’s habitats and species – and adds in David Attenborough for a bonus.

The Durrells: Season 4
Keeley Hawes stars in this sun-drenched, hugely likeable six-part series based on the Corfu memoirs of Gerald Durrell. In a final run of episodes, she will once again be joined by young acting talents Josh O’Connor (Les Miserables), Callum Woodhouse (Cold Feet), Daisy Waterstone (And Then There Were None) and Milo Parker (Mr Holmes) who play her unruly and spirited on-screen children. Following the events of the last series, the future is looking bright for the Durrells, with all of the family channelling their heartbreak in different ways. Choosing to keep herself busy, Louisa has opened the doors of the family villa as a guest house, but with Basil as their only paying guest, the business is still to find its feet and customers.
Meanwhile, Larry (Josh O’Connor), struggling to get his risqué Black Book published, is enjoying the love of two ballet dancers, whilst heartbroken Leslie (Callum Woodhouse) has thrown himself back into his job and shooting. True to form, Gerry (Milo Parker) continues to collect animals, ambitiously planning to open a zoo with a new owl and some lemurs joining the menagerie, and Margo (Daisy Waterstone) seeks a new challenge, starting her own beauty salon.

The Victim
Kelly Macdonald and John Hannah star in this new four-part drama from Rob Williams (Killing Eve, The Man In The High Castle), which is told through the eyes of the plaintiff and the accused. Macdonald plays Anna Dean, whose nine year old son was murdered 15 years ago. She is accused of revealing her son’s killer’s new identity online and conspiring to have him murdered. Has the anger of a grieving mother turned her into a criminal too? What is she capable of doing in her son’s name? Set within Scotland’s unique legal system, the show, a STV Production for BBC One, asks who is really the victim?

Kate Beckinsale stars in this drama about Georgia Wells, whose life is turned upside-down with a phone call in the middle of the night. Her husband of over 10 years, Will, has been reported dead after a plane crash in the Congolese jungle. Three years later, with her old life now a thing of the past, Georgia learns something shocking that will take her to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, looking to uncover the truth about his disappearance. Written by Liar and The Missing’s Harry and Jack Williams (Liar, The Missing).

Don’t Forget the Driver
Written and created by the BAFTA nominated actor and Obie award winning playwright Tim Crouch (An Oak Tree, Beginners, Adler & Gibb), Don’t Forget the Driver stars Jones (Detectorists) in a dark comedy set in sunny, seaside Bognor Regis. It explores what it means to live, work and parent at a point when the entire UK population is having to come to terms with the changing colour of their passports. And, best of all, it stars Toby Jones. He plays Peter Green, who is at full stretch in a life of ordinary routine; clip-on ties, limp packed lunches, vehicle checks, round-trip coach journeys ferrying church groups to donkey sanctuaries and Japanese tourists to Canterbury Cathedral. But the discovery of a dead body on the docile Bognor shoreline and an unsettling meeting with a new arrival in town throws Green’s life into chaos.

The Bold Type: Season 3
Inspired by the life of Joanna Coles (former Editor-in-Chief of fashion magazine, Cosmopolitan), The Bold Type reveals a glimpse into the outrageous lives and loves of those who work on fictional women’s magazine Scarlet. Picking up after the heartbreak, romance and uncertainty from the Season 2 finale in Paris, The Bold Type returns this April as Jane (Katie Stevens, Faking It), Kat (Aisha Dee, Sweet/Vicious) and Sutton (Meghann Fahy, Miss Sloane) are faced with the aftermath of some major decisions. Meanwhile, Scarlet Magazine is undergoing some changes, with new staffers brought on board who are bound to ruffle some feathers.
The new season continues to explore important issues, both personal and political, and the trio continue to push the boundaries of what it means to be young women juggling careers, love lives and embracing their identities. Episodes arrive on Amazon Prime Video weekly, following their US broadcast.

Lee and Dean: Season 2
Created by Mark O’Sullivan and Miles Chapman, Channel 4’s hilarious sitcom follows two Stevenage-based builders and best mates. The first series followed the relationship between Lee, Dean and their friends through charity galas, poetry nights, bark rubbing competitions, prison sentences and shockingly eventful stag and hen weekends. The supporting cast included Anna Morris, Camille Ucan, Sam Underwood and Ricky Grover (EastEnders, Getting On, Walliams & Friend). The end of season 1 left us on the edge of our seats, with relationships on the rocks and Lee and Dean coming to blows. Will Lee and Dean mend their friendship? And will Dean ever reveal his true feelings for Lee?
